So I need to offer something for sale before I can look into what some one else is offering?

Our freecycle does not require an offered item in order to respond to items being offered. So if you see someone there who is offering scrap wood, you can reply to their post.

Perhaps you'd have to offer an item before you can post a WANTED ad.

Check the rules on your local board.

If you see an item posted, you can reply to receive it.

The poster of an item usually gives it to the first person who replies, but I have noticed that a single person bids on everything of value, (pretty sure she resells for profit) so...

I do sometimes manually adjust (forget) who emailed me first.

The first thin I ever offered was a whole bunch of 1/2 empty seed packets from planting my garden. I had about 7 people who wanted them! lol

Yes, it's odd that so many people respond to just about anything that's offered.​
