Recently I had started incubating a Tolousse and African mixed goose eggs one egg quit but my other egg is thriving and I am on day 18 currently. My question is when it is time to go into lockdown what side should my egg be laid? I have an X on one side of the egg and nothing on the other (to keep track of rotation) I know that when it is time for lockdown that the gosling neck is so long and it takes awhile to hatch I just want to do this right as this is my first time thank you

A good question!

You need to candle for the air cell. You won't know quite which way is up yet til draw-down. You need to candle to watch for that...It'll happen from days 24-31. Day 28 for my Toulouse babies. Basically the part of the air cell which has the lowest dip needs to face up. This is where the baby pips, so keeping that side up keeps everything clear.

This guide has a good explanation on the subject:

You should review it while you're waiting for your baby to get ready!

Let us know.

I have been marking the air pocket just wasn't sure which side to face it my little one is doing so well and I just want it to be successful when hatching time starts I just know that on the day lockdown begins I will be at work and want to make sure the egg is facing the way it should be although my mother in law will be at home to keep an eye on things and thank you for the advice today is day 17

Thank you and on my above post it should have said day 16 because today is day 17 :) my little one is doing so well and I aim for a successful hatch I hope it will be strong enough to do it on its own! Although the guide was very helpful and looking at the photos and comparing it to my egg it looks as if things are going accordingly I can't wait for the baby to get here
