hello
my poor husband finally had his teeth pulled and replaced with immediate dentures. the problem is that the top one makes him nearly throw up when he tries to insert them.he is also unable to keep the bottom one in due to the pain..we are supposed to go in tomorrow and see what they can do but i am worried..he is worse off now than he was before and im the one who talked him into doing it

he is terrified that he will never be able to eat again so i am at a total loss.

the top tray is probably a bit long in the palette and is irritating his gag reflex.

they can be adjusted and his mouth may be irritated/swollen, don't panic. all can be fixed.

he will probably salivate more than normal for awhile. (anything foreign in the mouth sets off the salivary gland, it is trying to wash a foreign object away.)

PM Mahonri, he may be able to give you more detailed info. (i was a dental assistant long ago, but he is a very skilled Dentist.)

you are right about the top plate..they trimmed it down and thinned it but it still is unwearable..tomorrow they are supposed to cut it back more and they said it would be more like the bottom one in appearance , but i dont know..i just hope we didnt go to a cut rate place!

my mother swears by salt...sprinkled on the back of your mouth/throat..it takes the gag reflex away......of course shes on high blood pressure meds..

we went to dentures and dental services...they are going to try and fix them tomorrow to make them wearable..but now his gums are so swollen that he cant get it on anyways..i think he will be ok but still..
