Needing roost ideas, pics would be greatly appreciated!

Flat roosts for the chickens; tree branches for the peacocks; different level roosts for the bantams, med size birds, large birds and turkeys. I have a variety of everything.

I had a friend that directed me to the site and I think it's awesome the how much help everyone has been! The pics are great because I'm a VERY visual person and so the pics make it much easier for me to understand! I love all the suggestions too...height of the perches like a couple of you mentioned is something that I hadn't thought about and the width of the perches that was also mentioned that had never come to mind! Thank you all again so much and please if you have pics and haven't put them on here...load away, I'm still interested!

I used a very large round dowel for a roost, but I think I am going to replace it with a flat 2 x 4 since my girls are much bigger now! Luckily it is always warm here so I don't have to worry about the girls freezing their toes like some folks do in colder climates- a flat roost is ideal in cold climates because the chickies can keep their toes warm under their feathers- also easier for them to balance. Live and Learn I guess!

all i can say is when I did my first coop I made my perches out of closet rod fastened to the wire with a single bolt on each end and washers. My dad laughed at me when he saw them... and I said.... What? He said watch when your hens hop up. OMg those perches twirled and rocked it was like watching chicken log rollers. But Dang they figured out how to balance. I later on put in a second screw so the perch wouldnt roll.

So What ever you decide to do make sure its secure.

What kind of chickens standard or bantams? I have a mix and have to keep my roosts low for the bantams but the big girls don't seem to mind. I will take a picture and post.

old stair rails make great roosts. I have also used an old wooden ladder laid out flat. Just make sure your roosts are higher than your nesting boxes. I made that mistake, and ended up with some very poopy nests. Needless to say, the roosts got moved up.

Putting a chickie ladder up to the high roost is nice, but they almost always fly down. So be sure to allow enough room for them to fly down without smacking a wall.

I have Double Mutant French Black Copper Marans (1 of only 2 flocks in North America!) - I'm a proud Momma of this flock & then I have some what I call "mutts" but they are standard size and great layers.

Here is what we use for roosts. I got the idea from other BYC'ers and love it!

Close up of each step. We used scrap pieces of wood to put on either side of the 2"x4". That way we can take out the 2x4's to clean whenever we need to.
