needsome facts to educate others- eating fresh eggs

Quote:
I had a friend that I gave some of my eggs to. After I asked if she had them yet, she replied that she threw them out because they sitting in her car for a few hours after I had given them to her and so she thought they were bad. This was in early spring so temps still weren't enough to heat up a car. My reply was, do you know how old supermarket eggs are?!? The eggs I gave her were only a few days old and I can keep them at room temp for 1 to 2 weeks and they are still good and fresh. I was so mad! She has asked me for me but I won't give her any.

And to the OP one thing about selling them vs giving them away is at least if you sell them people will think twice before they ask for more because money is involved. But if you start giving them away you will be constantly pestered about with the questions "when are you bringing in more eggs?" You could bring in your first sample and then set a price even if it's just $1 a dozen.

I am proud to sell PESTICIDE FREE just think of the chemical wash used on grocery store eggs........ need I say more? LOVE our farm fresh free ranged.......... WE need to "BRAND" all the organic, free range, descriptions with just one word..............This will get fun...........Paul

I was putting away a bunch of egg cartons given to me and I noticed one that said "All Natural Eggs - from hens fed a vegetarian diet". Ummm, since when did chickens become vegetarians?

Great information sheet you have gritsar. I may do something similar if I start selling eggs.

Right now we only have 9 laying hens, next spring our other pullets will start to lay and we'll have close to 30 laying hens. For now I give eggs to family and close friends. I plan on bringing into work next spring lunch bags with 6 eggs each with our business card. I'll give those out to people I know and if they want more they can order them and I'll bring them in if we have any available.

Gritsar, I may glean some of your info sheet for my own

I have 3 dozen going to DH's city office tomorrow at $5 a dozen, plus another dozen scheduled for the end of the week.

City folk go crazy for these big, free-range, awesome eggs!

It more than pays for their food, bedding, treats and massive use of the heat lamp!
