Someone at the feed store yesterday said they use garden neem oil extract (mixed with water in a pump sprayer, as per instruction) and spray down their chicken coop with it every two weeks in the summer and also if they see any on their chicken they dunk (bathe) their chickens in the same solution to rid them of lice and mites. Anyone have experience with this or advice for or against? Thanks for your help!

For reference the solution was 2tbsp per gallon

Yes, just sprayed mite infested bantams with the neem solution and the mites visibly die on contact. If the chicken has suffered a while and is low in energy, pale etc, need to incorporate high iron food till totally well again.

Is it safe to spray them in the winter? Or would you bring them in the house to do so in the winter and let them hang out till they are dry?
