neigbors not so keen on the idea of chickens

I have been planning my backyard flock for 2 years now. I even bought a house outside city limits in a subdivision without any known covenants and no HOA ( meaning the subdivision is so old there isn't anyone who knows of the covenants or anyone in charge). I recently told my neighbors of my intentions and they weren't too keen on the idea. How can I find out the rules of an extinct HOA?

I would research the rules for your township or municipality and forget the HOA. Just have a copy of whatever document allows you to argue your right to have chickens.
Your neighbors might be like my hubby was: not "too keen" until he got hypnotized by the cuteness!

Honestly I wasn't too keen on the idea until I started learning and researching about chickens. I'm sure the more your neighbors learn about chickens I'm sure they will come to like them and maybe even get some of their own.
