Neighbor chickens in yard

It's sad we live in a society where we feel the need to fence our yards because others fail to respect our property and boundaries...
that is just a human nature type of thing, everyone is nosy and some are always careless.
The fence is more for your piece of mind, i wouldn't have my kids in the yard without me or a fence same with my animals.

if You do not care about keeping a friendly neighbor call AC whenever chickens are in your yard/space. otherwise give talking another shot, make it sound friendly but known that you expect compensation for the damage caused. Pets and Livestock damage to others property when preventable by the owner is unquestionably the owners responsibility

We talked to our neighbor and he would try to supervise them when they are out of the coop. He said it was unfair for the chickens because they should be able to roam free. :(

Yeah, they should be able to roam free.....within the boundaries of HIS property, not yours.

I perimeter fenced 2 of my over 5 acres just so my chickens would be confined on my property when they were free ranging out of their pens--yes, each flock has a large pen attached to its coop in addition to the perimeter fence. The neighbor's two hens were at my driveway gate, which is set into my driveway by a few feet. Had to have a talk with her about not allowing those hens on my property at the risk of infecting my birds with something. I have had healthy flocks for 9 years and she gets 2 pullets from God-knows-where and now, Mrs. Clueless lets them go wherever they like. So, even chicken owners have this issue with other chicken owners.

This.

My neighbours.. They have been invaded by my chickens (now within electric fencing), my goats/alpaca (also fenced in properly now), and now our ducks have taken to his pond.. I blame the neighbour for feeding them. If it makes matters any more fair, their grandchildren free range and always end up on our porch. They eat our chicken treats and wake us up early. All summer we can't walk around the house in the buff because of their free range grandchildren.

Disclaimer: I love their grandkids. I want to adopt all 3 of them. Best kids in the world. My neighbours also love the animals (except the goats and the turkeys we used to have, because they scare their customers off with their looming).

To the OP: Try motion activated sprinklers. That will keep them out of your garden, and invoice your neighbours for it.

It's not a human nature thing, most people respect unfenced property boundaries... I know I certainly don't need a fence between me and my neighbors yard to know that I shouldn't be letting my animals roam their yard and/or that it's their property and I should not be trespassing just because... IMO human nature like most other territorial animals is to respect 'claimed' property borders for the most part to avoid conflict...

Putting up a fence because you choose to do it for your own reasons like confining the children and animals to your property, is not the same as putting one up because others can't respect your property and choose to invade it...

Virtually every city that allows chickens also requires that they not be at large. At large means roaming around OFF the owner's property. Since you have already gotten nowhere in talking to the neighbor, call your city's code enforcement and file a complaint. Be sure to mention that it is their being at large that is the issue, not that they have chickens.
