I wait till dark my chicken go in to roost to close the door! Well the neighbors chickens get closed in too till i get in from work. i let them all back out! But my neighbor trespass on to my property and found he's chickens in my coop with the door closed. He called the Sheriff and told them i was stealing he's chickens. The Sheriff came to my door and ask me did i steal my neighbor's and i told the Sheriff what i had done! He laugh about it! He said there was not a thing he could do about it! What do i need to do about this problem? Help

I would probably keep your chickens locked up in the coop and then the nieghbors chickens won't be able to get into your coop, they will probably stop trying to get into your coop once they realize they can't get in anymore! Maybe putting fence around your yard would also help to keep your chickens in and his out! Maybe have a talk with your nieghbor and tell him to keep his chickens in his own yard and there wouldn't be problem in the first place. Sounds like a tough situations, Good Luck!

I would start taking them to the pot if you ask me

he called the sheriff on you ? haha oh buddy let one of them chickens step over the property line and they are in my pot in no time

Take a video of the neighbor's chickens entering your coop on their own free will. Show it to him if he or the sheriff complains again. Say you will charge them for overnight stay (boarding fee) if they do not keep their chickens on their own property or leave you alone, one or the other.

This reminds me of how Monsanto sues farmers for copyright infringment when their genetically altered crops inadvertantly contaminate those farmers crops through pollination... I just hope your neighbors chickens are healthy, and don't introduce problems to your flock. You might want to tell your neighbor that you will hold him responsible if your chickens get sick.

I would write a note informing him that his chickens are trespassing on your property and helping themselves to your feed/coop and you would like for him to keep them on his own property. Make it clear that if he continues to let them trespass, you are not responsible for what might happen to them. I would tape it to a box of chicken flavored stuffing and leave it at his front door.

I think mailing him a letter would be a good idea. Telling him what is happening, you don't want his chickens trespassing in your yard, and he will be held financially accountable if it continues. Send a CC to the sheriff with a note asking them to keep it on record.
Actually, don't mail it. Hand deliver the letter or he may claim he never received it. Note time and day you handed him the letter. (Make sure you keep a copy for yourself.)
