Thanks! I did it! Wish I had a picture of that mean ole husky. But there's a few of the coons I'm going to be fighting with once I keep the chickens in the coop instead of the garage. I'm not sure what the laws are on killing coons in Indiana. I'll have to look into it.
Well, I am happy to report that just a few minutes ago the neighbor dad showed up with 2 replacement Rhode Island Reds. I guess he raises chickens too, from what he told my son. We are both feeling less angry. How do you think these 4 will get along? the new ones are about a week younger....well, size-wise they are smaller, but feather growth-wise they look about the same or ahead or ours. Maybe they are just smaller than ours.
Ours are about a month old. maybe 5 weeks.
I'm glad he trying to do the right thing. Hopefully, he will work harder to contain his dog. Free ranging your chickens in your yard is your right. Him free ranging his dog in your yard is not his right. You may want to quarantine the birds for a while to be sure they aren't carrying anything. In about a month, they will be closer in size and you should be able to put them together.
#1 lesson I'm learning. Secure the coop and run. Boy oh boy!
My heart goes out to all who are finding difficulties with neighborhood dogs.
P.S.
