Hmm, I tried to post this but it didn't work apparently as it's no longer here...I'll try again.
I like the idea of pouring vinegar on one of the dogs but I wonder if they would even notice as the dogs aren't played with and aren't allowed inside their house. For all the people who wanted to
me regarding the fact that my dog is on their property at times too: This is not an excuse but a clarification, she is rarely there and I call her back when I see her over there, she isn't allowed to run free, but I let her out for short pee breaks and she's out with me while messing with chickens and gardening sometimes she gets out of my sight but not often. I agree that it shouldn't happen and am actively trying to prevent it. I don't have a double standard that it's okay, I just meant that she couldn't do harm, I've seen her scared and she runs, then if she can't out run the captor which only I've seen twice, she rolls over and pees herself. Also the neighbors have 2 horses besides the dogs but no other animals.
Yesterday I acquired more dog kennel panels for my chicken run and set it up so that I can put Bella in there when outside. The chickens are inside a chain link kennel fenced area with an apron, but a determined dog could probably still do some damage if not to them than to my dog. I started this post because when harvest is over and we have a little more money I'm getting that invisible fence thing that you bury a few inches in the ground and train her to stay inside it. Again she will only be out for short periods but that will guarantee she stays where she's supposed to. I wanted to ask this question before I bought it to know what to do about the big dogs should they come over.
Good Fences = Good Neighbors, I agree and if I had the money I'd fence in the whole area (and will eventually so I can get big 4 legged critters) but for now we can't afford it, it's scheduled for next year or the year after. We tried to ask them to split cost on a good fence when they were building the crappy barbwire cattle type fence but either the language barrier prevented it or they weren't interested in a better fence. So for now we will just work around these issues as best as possible.
