Definitely call the police ASAP...not only will it be documented by authorities, but they will be forced to stop as well. Anyway you can request more police drive-by monitoring? Not sure where you are, but here in California we can request increased patrol for justified reason...this would be one for sure!!!! So sad that you have such awful neighbors...life is too short for such B.S.

My head was bursting today so i had to take action. The officer really did not want to go over there. I guess he thought it would make matters worse, but I am tired of being intimidated by them. He is truly a bully and only sees red. He will continue to be this way to others for the rest of his life. I know he is over 65 now; she's about 8 years younger. This obsession can't be helping with his and her health and happiness. I don't know if he will ever get it that peace isn't to be found out there. I am just an excuse for his and her misery. How sad.

Sooooo sad! Unfortunately miserable people tend to take pleasure in making happy people miserable too! He is definitely crossing lines and seems a little...no A LOT..unstable so I would want to keep police involved as much as possible so it may cause him to show some restraint! Again, if any neighbors are witnessing this to, I would see if you can get some support from them too. As loud as he is, he is probably annoying others too!

Unfortunately these sound like the kind of neighbors that even if you were to give up your rooster to appease them, they would find something else to complain about. So you might as well keep your rooster. At least he's keeping you happy.

Yep. They'll never be satisfied- and that's not your problem.

Call as often as they act up. If the target practice ends up with bullets in your yard, call. Get a copy of ALL of the regulations covering your area and read up on them. Don't understand one- have the city/county explain it to you in writing.

I strongly suggest you lawyer up ASAP. Also, if you're usually home alone, get someone to stay with you at all times. Because your neighbors are crazy, and you can't predict or reason with crazy.

The last several days the neighbors have been playing their dog barking cd or something like that at the property line. They are nowhere in sight, but I can see it. This is so immature, it is laughable...don't they have anything else to do but patrol me?

After the fiasco with the officer last Sunday and their boombox, I decided to let my beautiful swedish flower rooster go and a black copper maran sweetheart. I thought this would be a nice gesture on my part again. Hopefully, they will go to a good home...I think so.

What really has me upset now is that they have placed mothballs on the property line....their side of the fence. Not just a few, but at least several boxes concentrated in a 4 foot area near where my chicken run. I do not use mothballs because they are a poisonous, pesticide containing napththalene or paradichlorobenzene which is very toxic. When I am in there with them with this heat and humidity, it is awful. I am going to try and create a barrier on my side of the privacy fence to see if this will help. The officer said there was nothing I could do about the mothballs since they were on his side, but he could clearly see that they did this out of spite. They are not near their garage, pool house or home. The dog barking cd shut off as soon as the officer drove onto my property. I didn't care about him speaking with them anyway, I just wanted it to be documented which I hope this accomplished. I am tired of being bullied.

Any suggestions on how I can handle these mothballs? I am thinking of at least retrieving a few tonight to cut down on the smell. Interesting....what will they do next? They could easily drop them into my yard as well.

Print out the pages below, and then call the police again, also call your local EPA office and file a complaint and they will likely follow up... They are clearly violating Federal Law, and if the officer responding does not act and enforce the law get his badge number and call up the Chief of Police and file a complaint or notify your local EPA branch that local law enforcement is failing to enforce the law, give them the officers badge number and the number of the Chief of Police...

It is very difficult to catch them on camera....by the time I get the camera ready, the profanity stops, the rocks stop, the fog horn stops. I do have at least 30 minutes of amplified music recorded throughout the day. I do have photos of the rocks where they landed, another neighbor has been over and witnessed the amplified music, dog barking tape, profanity, etc. Filing charges for harassment seem pointless because they will retaliate even more. The officer today knows them sort of personally, through another person, and it seems they have a reputation for erratic behavior. He thinks this stems from their wealth. I will reconsider harassment charges, but so far, police just find it laughable or it is as easy as getting rid of the rooster. Done that. Hostility continues. I am more concerned at this point with the safety of myself and my chickens.
