Neighbor hates my chickens- will she do them harm?

:) Thank you for the laugh!!! I needed that! Tonight my husband is writing them a letter stating that she is harassing us and if it doesn't stop he will take the appropriate action. I'm not sure exactly what he is planning....TBD. :) Yesterday the joke was on her... while we were away during the day she cranked up her music... to the amusement of the electrician there working on our new barn he told me today when I called him. Then she went and turned the music off and stood on the property line "on the phone" yelling so all could hear that she was closing on the foreclosure on the other side of us. That she was signing the papers tomorrow. Not possible... the bank doesn't own the house yet. Sigh. This afternoon while I was feeding my chickens she dug up and (I assume) threw away the perennial flowers I gave her that were from my father. Slamming the shovel and banging the ground loudly. :( Then she stared at me in my house as she stood on the property line on the other side of my new chicken area.

Now I have a dilemma. I really want to put up a fence now so I don't have to look at her, but my DH wants stop the harassment first. I know he is right... but I just don't know how long I can take the conflict. But I do know one thing. I am not getting rid of my chickens!

I just read this entire thread. What kind of freak stares at you in your own house? Try to do relaxing activities and follow your husbands' lead. As long as the harassment deal ends soon, I'd get that to end then fence. Good luck, I can't believe this is happening.

Day before yesterday she crossed the line. I was in my backyard and she couldn't see me. I heard her try to open the gate to my chicken yard... the gate that I put there when we used to be friendly. Luckily, it didn't open because DH had wired it shut for me the day before. I stepped out where she could see me and she looked at me... guilty expression... ran into her backyard for a moment, came back, hopped in her car and then drove away. I believe that she was going to open the gate and let them all out. That was after an afternoon of music VERY loud and installing what looks like a mini swing set full of birdfeeders right on the property line next to my run. DH mailed the letter yesterday..... today so far nothing... no response... but no music outdoors either. So now we wait. If anything happens this weekend we are going to install an electric fence to protect our chickens on Monday!!!

I'd check your home owners insurance before setting an electric fence on your property line.

You can not simply electrify a fence. Electric fences must be insulated from ground to work.
