Neighbor released feeder rats!!!!

Mine had a feral mama who had her kits in a tool box in a friend's country town auto shop. No one could get near mama but she let the owner and the local guys that hang out there mess with her kittens. She is such a sweetie but within weeks of brings an 8 wk kitten home I had no more mouse problem. Still a few in the garage but she doesn't go there much. If I end up with mice in the chicken run etc I'll have to get a different kitten so grows up with the chickens and like outside, mine is terrified of being outside. ;)

Update for anyone interested.

The poison called Kaput was placed in its hole a week ago.
No new holes have appeared.

Either it moved on or passed on.

No body has been found so I have no real way of knowing if I got it.
I am just glad my chicks seem safe again.

That's how it works for us as well. They usually die in their holes. Glad you were successful, rats are destructive.

21...You need a daschund LOL! They are major pest killers, besides your poison which seems to be working. Our mini longhair doxie, Ruby found a rat in our garage, a big ugly nasty one, and chased it around with us helping before she caught it and shook it to death within 5 seconds, dead with a broken neck. It was after the chicken feed, I guess. I admit to wanting to find another, because watching her kill it was so satisfying!!!!

I saw our hens catch a little field mouse once. I almost felt bad for the mouse. Looked like something out of a zombie/horror movie once they got their beaks into it... Then we debated bringing the chickens into the garage to help clear out the mice that got in there... Still no clue what they were after besides maybe just a warm and dry place to call home
