I wonder if it could do with your age.. like he thinks you are still a kid or something. I'm 25, though not female, and had to deal with a similar situation awhile back. Finally had enough of my neighbor and blew up, he went running down my driveway and hasn't been back a single time. Sometimes in order to get people like that to stop you need to push back. Don't give him anything. I would almost recommend surveillance equipment but I don't know how expensive a setup would be. If he killed one of my animals I'd probably run him over and say it was an accident.

The violence part is not the answer in my younger days I would have blown up and I’m sure the law would be called and it would be me going to the pokey and not the idiot with age and experience such has being a bouncer and dealing with drunks, being to lots of bike events it is all about respect for me now you give me respect and you get it back you don’t give me my respect and well you don’t exist in my world. Rather than share any knowledge he may have, or ask you if you could move things around a bit has he moved out to the sticks from the bricks for a dream he had of country living he is being disrespectful so let him be don’t wave don’t give anything to him he will come around when he figures out that no one is letting him be the boss or the mayor and will either come around or he won’t live the dream you worked for and don’t let him bully you into being miserable.

If he takes it to the next level then do what needs to be done for you to be safe be it call the law or put him on his backside but only when it comes down to protecting what you have. I learned long ago when it comes down to it the guy running his mouth is blowing air it is the guy being quite that is thinking ahead and already knows what is going to happen next.

I would say that the coop is about a football field away from his house... and the coop was there before he built the house! Yes there are no resrictions on land use for livestock. Other than the numbers of livestock. I calculated it once and I think I remember I could have up 260 chickens of something like that. lol

I'm surprised he can even hear them, well at his age he probably won't for long

just ignore him I'm sure he'll tire of it when he sees you are taking no notice, it sounds to me as he may be a little jealous of you for some reason

Giving him eggs would be like giving a screaming child candy because he is screaming. Do not reward the bad behaviors. Ignore him the best you can and if you can, get some outdoor cameras. They sell them around here for about $150 to $500 and they are easy to install. If he steps one foot in your yard call the cops.

Give the (explicit word) nothing. find out the local ordinances for all animals and fencing, fence your entire property line on that side after you make sure you get it surveyed. Have the surveyors mark the lines and take plenty of pictures, perhaps they could make a map with so many feet from light pole/driveway etc, listed as some of the landmarks to guide you where the line is. I live in the country and when a neighbor had a couple of roosters on a near by road I went out to find out who it was he thought I was mad he had them. I told him no, if I had a problem then I should not live out here because this area (8 miles out of town) I expected them out here. I agree with the cameras and get a couple of BIG UGLY DOGS. One Neighbor had a big ole Rottweiler, sweetest dog you'd ever see, but people who didn't know thought they where mean.

You can pick your friends, but you can't pick your family OR your neighbors. I'm sorry that you're having to deal with someone with such a nasty attitude, but seeing as you are well within your rights to do what you're doing just as he is within his to do what he is doing, I would only make a few minor changes to your property; cameras.

Game cameras or some fancier security camera systems, it doesn't matter, but since you're alone on 20 acres and have had threats made against your livestock, I'd do it as soon as you can. We had our house broken into five years ago, not two months after we first moved in, and it was during the day. We live on 2/3 of an acre and have four neighbors within 200 feet of our home (albeit in the woods, so in the summertime you can't clearly see any of the homes). The cops came, they sympathized, but they couldn't do anything. There was nothing to trace and they told us that our area is far enough from a police barracks that unless there is a car patrolling nearby, it was at least 10-15 minutes for them to reach our home; plenty of time for someone to pack up and run. And with all of the trees and most people working during the day, it was an area that burglars would like to case if they could. They told us to get cameras, because if we could show them a face, they could put it behind bars. So we did...and they cover our coop/run, too.

Also, always report any/all threats to your person and property (including livestock). That way, if something does happen, there's a trail that they can start on.

And no trespassing signs so they are visible we have them every 15 feet up our drive and they boarder the property to include the front of the house

About the gun people suggest you carry don't, but buy a gun find out local zoning and if possible find a way to practice shooting that firearm in a safe manner where the neighbor can see you have a gun and can use it, also you might try to get a roommate who works 3rd shift somewhere so someone is always home so he's less likely to do something, he might try to do harm on the property if someone is in the house but he'll be very unlikely to try to damage your house. And he might be cautious enough not to do anything on the property because he'll know there is a chance the night owl might be using the potty or doing laundry during their "night".

Why not the gun? I first read this post a couple of days ago and that was my first thought, have a gun holstered on your hip. Make that geezer think twice about messing with you. I had some crappy neighbors 2 years ago. I made sure I carried my gun, and open carry at that, not concealed (I am licensed to carry concealed). Most states I do believe you can open carry a weapon on your own property. In Michigan you can open carry in public with a few exceptions (banks, schools, etc.). I also would carry my gun doing pretty much anything around the house (chicken chores, mowing lawn). I also second the advice on practicing a lot with your gun. You need to be good with it in case you need to use it, but it also gives that butthead something to think about.
