Neighbor threatening to "take out my roosters"

Great advice here.

Oh and I also have a roommate (female) that lives here with me. I for sure feel safer with having someone else in the house.

Maybe this is what his problem is. He may think you are gay and is a bigot. Maybe he left the city to get away from all the different lifestyles there and thought he wouldn't have to deal with "that " in the country only to move in next to what he thinks are lesbians

I agree with everyone else, keep a journal and an open line of communication with the police. I wouldn't give him anything because you would either have to wait at the fenceline with perishables or go onto his property; neither of which are good options and I'm sure he would refuse anyway.

I wouldn't make assumptions like that. His attitude is quite typical of many city folks who move to the country, then try to change the country into where they came from. I've seen it here in the mountains over and over again.

Some are just extra nasty about it. She's handling it pretty well, I think.

We have often wondered about what the neighbors think of us. And had a few good laughs about people thinking that we are gay. It happens all the time in the grocery store. But we have been friends since elementary school, so we know each other very well. We are also both single and not dating. I have a really hard time dating these days because men seem to be put off by my independence and choice of lifestyle. Oh well, thats whole different topic.

Yes he seems to be a very typical city person wanting the "country" to what they imagined it would be. Not the actual reality of farm animals and non fertilized yards.

We had a "new" neighbor when I was younger that moved out here from Connecticut that would call the police when every time our cows got out. We lived in the middle of NOWHERE and the county dirt road was designated "open range." There is always cows out. Finally the police told the guy if he called again that they would arrest HIM!

Hahaha, your Connecticut guy would probably have had apoplexy if he'd driven down a certain road near my house we take as a shortcut home sometimes. We have alternately had to stop at times on this same road for horses, cattle, a mule who refused to budge, guineas screaming at the top of their lungs, a huge hawk trying to get liftoff with his captured rabbit, and have seen shooting across in front of our car in broad daylight both a bobcat and a coyote. It's what I love about the country and the mountains in particular, a surprise around every bend!

Na, free eggs aren't going to do it. I would focus on your relationships with your good neighbors, maybe give them a free "thankyou" dozen of eggs.Make sure you really are on good terms with them. It's been my experience that a lot of people don't like confrontation & don't want to make waves with their neighbors.

I am confused how the cats get onto your property through the fence & having 3 dogs. I recently had to fix my fence...my chickens were escaping & being pests. I'm not getting the neighbor of the year award:(

It sounds like a horrible situation. I'm not sure why your hostile neighbor bought a place zoned for farm animals. Zoning and ordinances do change, so stay updated on what is going on in your area.

Hang in there!
