Neighbor threatening to "take out my roosters"

Does anyone know whats even going on now? Seems the gal posted this thread and is missing in action, it would be nice for an update, unless I have missed it some how.

with some people like her neighbor he might lie and say he was threatened with it. also in many areas open carry is against the law like Illinois, if he knew one was around but couldn't say officer she was waving it around threatening me and put it in her lawn wagon just before you got here it might do almost as good if not better than you suggest. Indiana is open carry but it is my understanding Indiana is one of the most lax states with gun laws and Texas is stricter.

We have members who do carry their sidearms when out and about on their properties in case they encounter predators, mainly roaming dogs and coyotes, after their livestock. Who's to say she isn't carrying because of that?

ETA: The OP just needs to determine if the guy is a threat or just a plain old jerk. If just a jerk, easy to ignore and go about her business. If an actual threat (and what he said about the roosters would, in my mind, make him a threat), then she'd take some serious steps to protect herself and her animals.

Guns are great but only when the person knows they are able to properly handle and use a gun. I do not believe in using a gun has a threat. I am licensed to carry and the only time my gun will be seen is when I am prepared to use it no other reason. I had to do lots of soul searching before I decided to carry all the time to ensure I would never pull a weapon in anger only if it was necessary to protect mine or to protect someone else and in the full mindset to use the gun for what it is meant for. I do have a varmint riffle to protect my flock dogs and whatever else decides to reside here but in no means should a gun be a threat.

I was not meaning carry a gun as a threat-didn't say that. I was just saying for her own protection, for her peace of mind, if she felt the guy was a nutcase. A varmint gun is a perfectly legit thing to have on a property such as hers. Sometimes, a threatening person just knowing their target is able to defend herself is enough to make the entire situation disappear.

Renegade Rescue I could not agree more that is why I suggested to learn how to use a gun in the view of the neighbor not as a threat per say but as a non-verbal warning that there is a fire arm there and a person who knows how to use it. If left in the house unless there is a varmint to get rid of or brushing up on shooting at a target. No threat, but the guy would probably think twice before shooting his mouth off or any other thing he would like to shoot....

I would defiantly make sure you know the laws such has here in Florida you must be on at least 6 acres with a dirt backdrop, I would also make sure there were plenty of other people with me when target shooting or the target practice could backfire and you have the law at your door because the old guy said you pointed it at him or threatened him or fired in his direction.

if they said that to me i would tell them to move back to the city because i ant going anywhere and ant getting read of any of my animals you should have put the roos right by his yard and watch him he can not kill anything on you place if it is on his he would have to kill it on the spot but if not he will get in trouble well ant anything to cry about i would just be mad at him and then yell at him heck with that guy
