Neighbors dog just attacked (GRAPHIC PIC)

My son just saw my neighbors dog come into our yard, and grab my BO hen. My son chased the dog down, and grabbed my chicken. She is walking fine, very vocal. She is having some wheezing, but I am not sure if that is from her injury. There is no other visible injuries to the hen. What can I do for her? I know that on human's you do not stitch animal wounds.

OUCH!!! You will want to flush the wound with a saline solution and maybe put some neosporine on it. Put her in a quiet place for her to relax in and offer food and water.

I like to offer scrambled egg , they love it and it has alot of protein in it.

Then time to talk to the neighbor.

If I had a nickel for every dog attack...
First...
Get her asap into a quiet, warm, comfy, stress free environment. (such as in good sized dog carrier with soft bedding and placed in quiet room). Food and water accessible.
Rescue Remedy in her water if possible (good pharmacies and health food stores should have it).
Topical neosporin where possible....the deeper wounded parts may require oral or injectible antibiotics to heal.
I think it's going to be very uncomfortable for her but an avian vet told me that 9 parts water to one part betadine can be used as a solution to cleanse the wound. She may need to calm down a bit first.
If she seems in pain (which could stop her from eating) and you don't have an actively bleeding situation tomorrow you can put a bit of aspirin in her water.

Oh! That has to hurt. Maybe rinse the wound with saline solution and lightly wrap with a cloth bandage and give her an aspirin per quart of water for pain. I would also keep her isolated and indoors if possible in quiet and darkened room for comfort. The other chooks might peck at her wound.

LOTS AND LOTS of neosporin!!! I always give a little bit of baby tylenol orally. Some people disagree with this, but it has never hurt any of my injured chickens and seems to help the rest better...keep us posted!! Darn dog!!!!

Just make sure your neosporin doesn't have one of the "caine" treatments to it. I remember reading that awhile back, that those will kill a bird.​
