Neighbors dog keeps coming in our yard

This is unlikely to be true.

In most places livestock have more protection than ordinary pets.

Regardless, your neighbor has the ABSOLUTE RESPONSIBILITY to keep his dogs on his own property and you have the ABSOLUTE RIGHT to not have stray dogs invading your yard regardless of whether you are worried about your chickens or just don't want them there for any reason at all.

How about some electric wire on your side where the dogs can't miss it when they come under the fence?
We might have to do this!

They are, and we share a long property line with them. Would hot wire be dangerous for my toddlers to be around?
Oh no I wouldn't trust a toddler around that. But I just remembered I saw these on tractor supply. You just hammer them into the ground.

woah what if the dog attacks?? you never know this is not ok i would suggest that you talk to your neighbor about this with proof that his/her dogs are running around in your property if they dont listen then why not call animal control hope you can get this under control
Yeah, I will follow up with them tomorrow. In the meantime I’m looking for some good fencing options we can put on our side!

Dangerous, no; painful, yes. I've been zapped by an electric fence many, many times and it doesn't get less unpleasant. My son got shocked the first time when he was about 3 while visiting a friend's farm. He's a full sized person now and I can still see it in his eyes when he's about to touch a fence or farm gate. He looks for wires and insulators as a general rule.

Two year olds might not be able to understand the whole 'don't touch' thing, even after getting zapped. Older children are more likely to learn avoidance. How much older? It likely depends on the child. It's the same issue, with physical injuries very possible, in teaching fireplace and hot stove avoidance.
Growing up around hot stoves and fires, I can't remember when I learned this life skill. Must have been pretty young.
