Thank you all for your input. I have read and considered everything written here. Having a paper trail is probably the best idea however, it wouldn't stop there. It would escalate. Animal control would not let it go by any means. I live in Floyd county GA. Our animal control has a really bad reputation. If you don't believe me google it or type it in youtube. There are many horror stories about them shooting animals, killing anim als scheduled for adoption, and the list goes on and on. They are famous for "making an example" of pet owners. Honestly I am a bit scared to call them. Everyone is afraid to have them come out which is quite possibly why my neighbor was afraid when I came over to tell him what happened and he asked me why I didn't just shoot the dog. I am an animal lover but I have to say as much as it pains me to say this, I will shoot his dog if I see it in my yard again. I hope and pray to God his dog never bites someone. Having heard y'all say I would have to live with my decision not to call authorities makes me feel awful. I don't know how I would live with myself if the dog bit one of my small boys. I have 3 boys aged 9, 8, and 4. Maybe I can help mynneighbor find her a new home. As it stands, I am seriously considering getting rid of my flock which consists of about 100 chickens, 30 ducks, and 15 geese, most of which I have hatched from eggs from right here on BYC. I lost a goose thisnmorning from her injuries in the attack and I have been crying off and on all day. I will give it a couple days to decide. I'm too emotional right now to make a decision. I feel like all this is my fault even though my birds were killed in my own yard. Ive had these birds for years and most hatched while I watched.
