Neighbor's dog killed two of our chickens. UPDATE FOUND HER!

Glad you found her. Rescue Remedy for all survivors could help them with the stress of it all. If you don't have it on hand you can find it at pretty much any health food store or good pharmacy. A drop or two in their water for a couple/few days.... They have a pet version now that doesn't have an alcohol base but either is fine.

Gosh, I saw this post and didn't want to say anything because it was so sad. I'm sorry for your loss, but so incredibly happy you found the other one. What great neighbors you have for admitting the error, although it's sad that it was made in the first place. It sounds like you can trust it not to happen again, though.

Best of luck with your chickens.

Thanks everyone. The kids were over the moon when they saw her.

Turns out I checked over the wrong chicken this morning. My two light brahma pullets both look alike to me, but the kids can tell the difference. The "real" Alice has large area on her back with missing feathers, but the skin is not broken, and the bare area is covered with the remaining feathers. The other chickens all seem quite glad to see her and haven't pecked or anything. The only thing I'm worried about is that I just went to check on them before bed and she is sleeping in a nest box, not up on the roost. Her wings seem fine, and she was walking around today, so I think her legs and feet are okay. Do you think she's just still scared and looking for a small dark space? Or would this be a sign of internal injuries?

She's been pretty mellow today. Lots of just hanging out quietly in her favorite clearing in the woods, but she was eating and walking around also. I held her for about 10 minutes on the swing before she wanted down, and she almost fell asleep in my lap. I'm hoping she is just sleepy from a long and stressful night. I'll see if I can find the Rescue Remedy as suggested by jjthink in the morning, but if I can't I'll get her some poly-vi-sol without iron and maybe some electrolytes and yogurt just to give her a boost.

Her name is Little Alice, but we are now calling her Lucky Little Alice.

All of this would be good. Shock is her biggest enemy - can kill them even without anything else being terribly wrong. If you have Gatorade or Pedialyte on hand, or accessible nearby quickly, this will do in a pinch for electroltyes, important for shock/stress. If it would stress her to have it administered via dropper you can spritz on watermelon or anything else she is willing to munch on. This is the first order of business after an attack or other stressful event. In case you haven't had to do this before, with the Polyvisol or anything else you need to administer via dropper, dribble slowly along beak line so she swallows on her own without choking.

Lots of TLC and comforting - she doesn't know whether or not she's safe. The Rescue Remedy may help with that.

The first 24 hours to couple days are crucial for all this stuff.

If we knew she didn't have internal injuries a bit of aspirin in her water could help with how achy she must feel (1 crushed baby aspirin per cup of drinking water).
I hope there are no internal injuries
