You must be kidding. This kind of person doesn't pay for anything. They go through life making problems for other people and then wonder why people don't like them and their dogs.

try a pellet gun and shoot them in the behind. It won't kill them but the dog may think twice next time before straying off.

So sad about your poor chickens. Yes, file a report, send the neighbor a bill...at least $20 per hen and damages to your property. If they do not pay take them to city or small claims court. I did.

Am so sick of hearing about and suffering personally from dogs running amok and killing poor chickens.

Sorry to here about your loss; my neighbor's dog got one of my light brahma pullets a couple of weeks ago. I was not home when it happened and was calling around the next day. the neighbor's son answered and told me it was his dog that killed my chicken and that his father had tied the dead chicken around its neck. come to find out, the dog has killed their chickens also. I told him and his mom in no uncertain terms "IF I SEE YOUR DOG ON MY PROPERTY, I WILL KILL YOUR DOG!!!!!"; I think I was pretty clear about that.
they now keep their dog chained up and I get to occasionally listen to him whine, but I went ahead and fixed my fencing to try to keep him out- we have a seasonal creek that is rough on the fencing.

I think it's cruel to chain up a dog and leave it to whine. They should let it come inside with the rest of its pack (the humans) or if it is out temporarily someone should be with it or it should be in a run. But that is not your problem, frogs n chickens, it's theirs. It killed their chickens and they still let it run! Some people are very strange.

I love dogs and we have 4. for other peoples animals allowed to run free and trespass on out property the SSS rule is enforced

I feel very bad for you and the loss of your chickens

I'm not sure where you live but I have 24 sweetheart pullets and hens love them all but I would be willing to give you a few if your within driving distance



Several states have leash laws and if the dogs get loose or left run loose the owner is responsible for any damage they cause.

Also Dogs are usually covered under the home owners insurance.

Example- My wife hit a dog with our car and damaged our car pretty good, we found out who the dog belonged to and filed a claim with the police and their home owners insurance company and won!! The officer is the one that told us about the law.

Granted the state I live in has a leash law and it is illegal for dog owners to let their dogs run loose thus the reason the dog owner was responsible for the damage to our property!!

In your case, 1st I would find out the leash laws in your state if there is one then file a police report then file a claim with their home owners insurance company.

Also many states have laws that state If a dog is running loose and not on its owners property and a being a nuisance?? it can be shot on site.


I own 2 German Shepard's and love them dearly and consider them part of my Family BUT if I let my dogs run loose then something happens I am responsible for their actions and should pay for it because I knew that before I got them. If they would get killed because I let them run loose again It is my fault for letting them run loose on other peoples property and causeing pain and loss to others and I should Pay for it.
