Neighbors dogs in coop. UPDATE! 2nd time. 911/charges/court today

WOW.. Just went through all of these postings.. So sorry to hear you actually have to take this to court.. Alot of people would think it is petty and that you should have taken what he was willing to pay.. I say good for you!! It's not fair!! People should be more responsible with their animals or else get rid of them!! I have also had this happen to me and it is nothing pleasant to have to deal with!! Good luck!

You know, I didn't get the vibe that people think going to court is petty at all. In fact I really appreciate all the support I have recieved on this forum. THANKS!!! The problem wasn't so much that he was asking us to settle for half. Its that he wanted me to sign a contract stating I would never blame his dogs for anything in the future ever. That was a ridiculous request!

It's a shame that I have the one neighbor living next to me who wants to be a bully! My other neighbors are quite nice. I exchange eggs with Sarah around the corner. Her dog runs free with no problems. Another neighbor has 4 dogs she allows to run free with no problems. I too don't mind dogs running free in the area....So long as they don't kill our livestock. But this neighbor takes the cake. He wants his dogs to run loose and do what they want. But G-- forbid my dogs get out by accident! THe nerve. I hate to admit it. BUt I hope he moves too!

I'm having a dog problem right now. I'm far too soft to do anything permanent, so next time he comes around, I'm spray painting GO HOME! on him.
Any subsequent offense will result in shaving.

Alot of bycers have suggested using paint ball guns. That way the dog is marked so it's easy to id him., and it won't kill him but, it may scare the daylights out of him so he won't come back.

its pretty universaly legal to use pepper spray on roaming and threatening dogs. in my area at least paintballs and bbs are not legal and even if you get caught protecting your own property your in trouble, but not if you kill it dead. makes no sense to me but anyways. a good friend of mine has lived out west in big bear areas, its common to spray every single bear that comes into camp or human habitation with pepper spray. reason being if its just a young and dumb bear they learn from an early age to avoid certian places like the plage. so most of the time its one pepper spray to the face rather then a bullet down the road.

How close to the dog would you have to be when using the pepper spray. I don't think he would wait for someone to close in on him.
