Life is too short to make enemies. Tell her, "make sure I'm here when you come over to see the chickens so we can visit". She was put next door to you as your neighbor for a reason, and you have chickens for a reason. What a wonderful enrichment for the children to be exposed to chickens. You have the opportunity to make some wonderful memories for that family/children. Trust me...it will get old after a while and they will not come around. Chickens are just chickens, but people are people. Just be a good neighbor and make life-long memories.

thing about bushes,, it takes a bit for them to grow into a decent albeit "polite" fence.

My elderly neighbors and their daughter(who lives behind them with adjoining yards) are NOSY! When we put up the wire fencing for the dog and kids safety they were a bit perturbed with it. ie didnt like the way it looks
Then we began using the pool and I got tired of being out there and always feeling like we were being watched. Or always having to talk with them, even on days i wanted to be alone. Then we got the chickens. And I knew that would open up them really being nosy. So we bought 6 ft tall split reed fencing and lashed it to the existing wire fence. It isnt perfect, but was cheaper than the stockade fence we WILL be putting up in summer 09. For privacy from the people... who we never really see since the old woman disappeared. right behind us. I am getting lattice and lashing that to the chain link. That is more for aesthetic reasons though. They have let the stockade fence that they put up fall apart and the back yard is disgusting to have to look at when we are back there.
