We are new to the world of chickens and recently bought two chicks for the daughters. Of the two - one turned out to be male and the other has a severe cross beak. We were told the crossbeak wouldn't make it so we went down and got another one. We've replaced the male with two more chicks. Maybe you can tell me what you think. Do I have more males?
This is Ruby - Production Red. One of them that I'm concerned about being male. Here she is about 3 months old. This is the one we got to replace the cross-beak - which is still alive.
This is June, our cross-beak Americauna.
This is another shot of June.
These two are the ones we got to replace the male. On the left is Cocoa (Wyandotte) and the one on the right is Cookie (Rhode Island Red). I'm mostly worried about the Red. They are both about a month/5 weeks old.
This is Cookie when we got her.
This is Cookie again - head on. You can see the comb very early on. (The other chick is an Orpington that we took back because she was WILD!)
This is Cookie now (5 weeks-ish)
Another Cookie head shot.
Cookie again.
This is Cocoa now (5-weeks).
Another Cocoa.
Do you think any of these chicks are male? Which ones. My daughters will just be heartbroken if they have to get rid of another chicken.
