Hey!

I'm leaving for a trip to Georgia Friday, returning Tuesday. This will also be the first time I'm leaving my year old hens and 5 week old chicks. I've got a pet sitter, and I know everything's most likely going to be fine, but I'm still nervous to leave my babies  Does anyone else feel like this whenever they take a trip?

I have new 5-6 week hen raised chicks now along with my flock of 18. My rooster does a good job, but also makes chicken sitting kind of a pain. We are going on a 3 day trip soon. I'm nervous even though my neighbors always do a good job of watching them. I'm always a nervous when:eek: I leave them.

Nope. But I've come to accept the possibility of losses - I also free range over several acres.

Enjoy the Georgia Area Renn Festival (I assume that's the purpose of your trip???) A number of my friends are going, in costume. I'm a bit envious, but have other commitments on my time.

Whatever the purpose of your trip, the birds should be fine if you have a good sitter - in no more danger than when you are at work, the shopping center, or otherwise off property. Relax and enjoy your time away.

Ha! I wish I was going to a Ren Fest, but I'm attending a wedding and kayaking on the Chattahoochee
