Nervous first timer

OMG, I have been sitting in front of the incubator all day, just waiting for the next little pip!!! lol there are 11 hatched. This has been so exciting.. I didn't really expect any of them to hatch at all, with all the problems I have had with the incubator, and not knowing what I was doing.. Thank you for all your support, and yes... I am hooked.. lol
Great! Congrats!

I'm still watching closely, had number 12 hatch, doing well 13,14 and 15 have pip'd, so I am still running back and forth... This is my grand daughters school project, when she got home from school she got to see one hatch.. I asked her.. are you ready to start collecting eggs for the next batch, lol she isn't too sure what its going to take to raise these babies, so I don't think she wants to commit, lol

12 have hatched out of 34. But I had so much trouble with the incubator, and I didn't know what I was doing, reading, researching, reading threads on here..first time ever to have anything to do with hatching anything, lol They started hatching at 3 am, so how long should I wait to decide that no more are going to hatch? I had no idea that any of them would hatch,I am truly shocked they did.

well personnaly I would wait until the next day, then check and see if there is any movement, I just got a suprise hatch and Sunday was the due date for hatch, but I am at higher elevation too

I recommend giving 24 hours after the last hatcher and then candle to look for any signs of life- which is going to be harder for you. Generally (there's always exceptions) hatches are done within 48 after the first hatchers.

Figure an update is in order.. last time I posted, 12 of the 34 had hatched.. I had asked how long to wait before disposing of the eggs...well, that night a few more hatched, then a few more, and a few more. 23 as of last night had hatched.. . at 3am, today, Fri that would be 48 hrs from first hatch.. so I got kiddo off to school, went in and checked again, and thought.. sure hate to dump all these eggs... then thought nope, not gonna do that, this should be her job.. so I didn't do anything with them.. she got home today. First thing she asked was, did anymore hatch.. I said nope.. need to dump the eggs, we were going to do a exam of the eggs to see when they died or if they just were not fertile.. well she went in to get to work, and 3 more were pipped... one of them has hatched, the other 2 are still pecking away... can see the shell where they pipped, moving back and forth, beak sticking out.. .. so maybe tomorrow, we will chunk the eggs.. LOL

I had one hatch at day 25 still, think maybe was jusr warm enough in a cool spot i discovered, that it made it. She was really late but doing great

LOL. They are just going to take their sweet time and keep you guessing....lol

not sure how many hatched last night, I had to work, can't wait to get home to check.. And yes, the eggs being in a cooler spot makes sense.. because to be able to keep this crazy incubator at 100 degrees, I had to put a blanket around it, and put a desk lamp in the middle of it.. I know with the light shining down on it, it had to have a warmer spot under the lamp than in the corners.. and yes the last eggs to hatch have all been in the corners when they started to hatch.. I know they were used a footballs by the earlier hatches, but all said and done, they might have been in the corner all along.. I am totally amazed we got any to hatch with lack of knowledge and incubator troubles, but with a 70-75% hatch.. I am elated!! and the kiddo, is totally over the moon with these babies..She told me last night.. wouldn't it be something if they ALL hatched?? LOL I told her, you have got about 20 more than what you would have been happy with, we were hoping at least a couple would hatch, lol lets not push it!!! Again, thanks for all your help, without this forum, I would have never even got the eggs set!! (knowing which end up, how long you can collect before setting etc..) Great Forum..
