Two of my girls were got last night. The one was in her third week of roosting. Any chance I can get and incubator and still rescue the eggs if there are any? She roosted under a pallet of hay bales. The other just sat last night and has a clutch of over 20. Those I am thinking are more viable.

Any input would be appreciated. I am very sad.

No reason not to try it. I've got 3 hens sitting on a super clutch of eggs and am going to pick up an incubator for the same reason. Mine are up against the house but they are still out in the open. Pick up the eggs. Keep the 2 groups separate and candle them to see if they are viable. If they are at 2 different levels of development, I would set up 2 incubators.

I have another question.

I was finally able to find a flashlight that worked in this house. The four eggs are just about 2-21/2 weeks along near as I can tell. They were without heat of the mother for somewhere between 4-6 hours (maybe longer, but we never heard a ruckus until earlier than normal-around 4am). I got them under a light, 95 degrees, by 1130 (had to go buy one as my other would not work).

I told my hubby that I would say we have a 50-50 chance with these 4 (more with the others since I the hen had just sat). He wants to know if they will develop normally, or be deformed?

Like I said, I don't know if they are even still living in there, but I would really like to try. Our local store said they will have an incubator today-bringing two up from another store for my emergency.

Do you still think I should give it a shot? When will I know if they are ready to do the whole lock down thing, quit turning them, etc. Just guess by candling? Are there better pics out there of candled guinea hen eggs? All I can find are chicken or duck eggs.

Thanks,
