Nest box colors?

My mobile home coop(built on a trailer for ease in moving from spot to spot) is nearly finished. I am wondering if the interior of the boxes should be a dark color and if the 'Barn Red' paint used on the outside of the coop would be okay to use, or for that mater, if the white used on the rest of the interior of the coop would be acceptable.
One more question. How far from the walls should the purchs be. Thanks for all your help past, present, and future.

I have nest boxes painted yellow on the inside of some and red on the inside of others. They mostly like a dark place so really they may prefer black. But no one has actually told me differently so they get what I have left over in scrap lumber anyhow.

I put my roosting boards at least 18 inches from the wall, it works better for my Jersey Giants for it to be 20 inches.
