I think 99.99999% of people, o.k. nearly everyone else, would look at this and think "crisps!". I looked at it and went "That would make fabulous nest boxes!" and went back to take pics of it. I think it's a great design.

What do you all think?

(Yes, I spend way too much time looking at and/or thinking about coops at the moment! lol)

Try it, it might work out ok. You will know if the birds use it or not.

Well this is why we are all on backyard chickens. I look at all kinds of stuff and think that would make a great nesting box or oh that would be great on the window for the coop. I see some awesome nesting boxes right there. Maybe add a little something on the side depending on your chickens. That’s pretty awesome. We just had some cabinets replaced and took the doors off the old ones and they are now are nesting boxes. I was just on a thread about repurposing materials for your coop. Too much waste in the world

I'm very seriously considering building something like this, but maybe make the sides a little higher, for privacy for the hens. It just looks nice and in a smaller space, would save floor space, by being upright.

That seems like it wouldn’t be too difficult or expensive to build either. I also like true patriots idea. Maybe a second for the back of the truck.

That's what I'm thinking. The crisps company would probably take it away once the promotion is over, but part of why I took the pics is so I can try and copy the design and make something similar. Nest boxes, shelves for stacking small items, planters even? It looks like a great little scrap wood project.

You're not weird, I haven't done the nest box idea outside of a laundry detergent bucket, but I do see things (building supplies, tin, wood, carports, trampolines, etc,) and think "I could turn it into a coop...

Did you ask the store what they do with them? I work for a company that own gas stations and most of the time stuff like that gets thrown away afterward. Granted the displays usually aren't as nice as that one! Also, I love that you call them crisps! It sounds so much nicer than chips.

I did tell two of my favourite cashiers there (they all know me well) that I really like the piece, so hopefully they'll keep me in mind if the company decides to not take it back :fl
