So we had our first hard rain and I am happy to say that not only do my vents stay dry but the eaves enable the walls stay dry for the most part, except the wall over my nest boxes, which got damp, I think from "splatter" off the nest box roof. This roof is hinged to allow access to both the eggs and the roost poop board and I am trying to figure out a way to water proof it. One idea is to use something like aquaseal to glue a flap of neoprene over the hinge with would allow the roof to swing up. Any other ideas?

there is a guy who sells this plastic material on eggbid. it works like a hindge, but since you can cut to length you can make it the full length of the part that connects so no water can leak in. Thats what I did on all my nest boxes and it works great. I am looking for his auction but it seems gone, it is usually there though. The material is a strong woven plastic that is malable and red on one side and green on the other. great stuff saves me a lot of money too

Sounds perfect, though at $17 dollars a roll, with shipping, it will not be cheaper than my hinges.

Exactly---I used a old tractor tire inner tube that I cut to fit over my nest box hinges and the chicken "pop" door hinge-----mine have been in use over 15 years and seem as good as the day I stapled them on.
