I got a set of new nest boxes, I noticed the chickens were hesitant in going in, at first I thought it was because they were new to them so I ignored it.
The normal hens that lay never laid yesterday, I know sometimes they have a day off but not both of them.
Today I watched one wanting to go in but kept turning back, it made me think, the last boxes I used were makeshift cardboard till I got the new boxes and they were more open.
So I got to work quick and removed the upper cross piece to make the box es more open and it worked, both hens went in a different times and laid.
I add a picture to show the piece I took off, it made all the difference.

Looks good. Mine is open and now I just need eggs. Waiting on maturity hope not too late in season. Looks like they play in my nests where the false eggs are. May have to rotate them to get them to use all the boxes. :thumbsup

I used false eggs too, it seemed to have worked on two of them, I only have five hens, just waiting for the others to get the idea lol.

Yeah I have four and the dears roll one of my false eggs which I reset every day and have been sitting in but no eggs yet. They are just figuring it out. God the waiting is terrible! Hope they don’t wait till spring. :):woot
