nest box

Next box size will depend on a few things -- are you keeping bantam or large fowl birds? Are the dimensions you listed high and width and, if so, what depth are you going to use?

12’ x 12’ is the minimum recommended size for full sized chickens, although they will use smaller. My nests are 16” x 16” x 16”. Mine work fine. 13” x 15” should work fine. They do need a little height since chickens stand up when they lay the egg. I don’t know what the minimum height is, I’ve seen them use some pretty tight spaces.

12" x 12" x 12" is about minimum I would recommend.
Mine are 14" x 14" x 16" tall, with 10" diameter entrances centered 7" from top for cool aesthetics and cozy interior. Height works good for when they stand to drop egg.

Width 13 height 15 depth 12.5 inch is this ok

My bantams lay in hanging nest boxes. I found it difficult to keep clean with the built in wooden nest box. Here's a video:

The hanging basket is cool. Definitely unique. Do you hose it out if there are droppings or a broken egg on the inside? I built these nest boxes that I can access from outside the coop. I just use pine shavings in the box as it seems easy enough to scoop out and replace as needed. I've tried other bedding materials and the birds just kick it all out if its not pine shavings.
