Just wandering I looked through some of the threads but didn't see any do hens lay better in a enclosed nest box I guess I should say with a top on it or is a open top OK just wandering what some opinions are.thanks

Some have them open. They say that if the nest boxes are dark (some even use curtains on the front) they are less prone to egg eating. Also - good idea to put a golf ball or fake egg in each one so they peck it and nothing happens to prevent egg eating.

I use covered kitty litter pans and like them but it is so far to reach down unless you put them up on a table like me, with room in front for them to stand right outside the box. I put sand in them and scoop with kitty litter scoop if there is poo in there. They do need bleaching out once a month and I switch the sand out and give them dry ones that I keep as spares.
