NEST BOXES: Do hens like them BIG or cozy?

Mine are 12X12X12 and all my girls (even the big ones) are fine in them. I also play musical nest boxes and move the golf balls around. Sometimes they lay in the new box, and sometimes they move the egg to the nest box they want it in.
