Hay or pine shavings

I use hay. My 1 girl that is laying started from day 1 in the box, onto day 13 now so far so good.

Have one with straw, one with pine shavings......Shavings seem better and chicken preferred...At least that's what my chickens seem to like better. Also stays cleaner

I have both I have shavings first then hay over the top. Nice and soft
