Nest boxes

We have 125 hens about ready to start laying, so we need to get them their next boxes!

We have been going back and forth with making or buying. We want a roll out nest box that is easy to clean.

We can get a 10 box unit for under $300, the good thing about that would be it would all be metal, so when we pasture them it will be more rugged and it will be easier to move when we need to.

Obviously making them will be cheaper... but our old ones we started having issues with after a few years keeping the wood nice and clean.

Gosh, you would need 25-30 nest boxes for thet many. Sounds like you could make them cheaper, but for $1000 you could use the metal ones forever. I went to a farm estate sale last week and an old set of metal ones (10 boxes) went for $200.
