So this hen has been sitting on her nest for 3+ weeks. Last week 3 tornados touched down 2 miles from here. Twice we've had tornado warnings and winds of 60+mph. All the time she has sat on her next in a calf hutch just fine.
2 nights ago we had gusty winds at night. Must have been just the right conditions to lift up the hutch and scatter the eggs. 3 broken. Others strewn about.
Dh picked up the eggs and made a makeshift next. She kicked 2 of the eggs out and as far as we can tell she's still sitting on 3.
Ds (10) wanted to put the ones she kicked out into the incubator. I told him fine but they probably won't hatch.
SO, who wants to take a bet on the last 3 eggs?
If we take them away will she lay more?
