nest full of eggs? Any good?

One of our small bantams appeared to have stopped laying. My husband decided she was laying elsewhere. He followed her and was unable to find the new location. Until today. He discovered 11 little eggs tucked away in the horse hay. 11 eggs. So. . . do we blow them out and make ornaments? Or are they still edible?

Bantams are sneaky little things aren't they! If she has not been sitting on the eggs and if the weather has been fairly cool where you are, the eggs could very well still be good. You might want to do a float test with them (put them in water, if they float they are bad). And if you decide to use them open them each separately in case there is a bad one. Fresh eggs are good for quite awhile at room temperature, places where eggs are not refrigerated like a lot of Europe they are sold in stores for 30 days from being laid.

I agree with the above poster. They are probable still good but do a float test to check.. Eggs don't have to be refrigerated unless you get them from the store.
