So I have chickens and we are used to looking in nesting boxes for the eggs.

Where do the ducks lay their eggs if they don't have boxes? Should I set up a place to encourage them?

I have some tires I could set up as little nests with straw handy, would this work? There is a shady spot they like to hang out. Does this sound like a good idea?

I just read on another post where someone uses small tires with straw.

Being that you're also in Western Washington, I'm thinking of using large cat litter boxes with the lids. Easy to hose down when needed.

My ducks climb up with the chooks into their nest boxes sometimes, or i have little baskets, round wire mesh pot, a tire material made nest, all filled with hay/what ever material there is... i dont find my ducks are overly picky

When i brought my duck to the house yard she duck a hole-nest to lay her eggs in.
