I have just about finish my first chicken coop. I only have to put in the roosts, the nesting boxes, feed and water. The floor area is about 8ft x 8ft, and walls about 4 ft high around the walls (going to about 6ft in the center). I am guessing that nesting boxes are pretty simple. I have heard that they should be about 15 inches x 15 inches by about 18 inches high. Are there any other tips or advice I should know before making them. Should I put a 2 inch lip along the front to keep in the bedding and keep other poop and stuff out. Any suggestions welcome.

Your coop sounds nice! I would definitely suggest a lip of at least 2" along the bottom of the front of the boxes.

Welcome!

Here's a pick of my nest boxes I just built super simple and keep the bedding in really well. 5 gal buckets are 15" deep 12" across they seem to work well. I cut out the bottom of the buckets in sorta 3/4 moon to hold in bedding and we access them for the back to gather eggs.

This is a picture of the back of my nest box. The front of the box is flush with the chicken wire so as not to lose any coop space.

This is the front and there is a 2" lip to keep bedding in as best as possible. It sets on small blocks so the bottom nests are about 6" from floor and are 12" X 12" X 14" deep. I just placed the box in place, stapled the wire to the box, cut out the chicken wire then added the front pieces.

Here's our nesting box. Pretty simple plywood construction. The opening in the coop wall that it will be attached to is two inches smaller all around so none of the nesting material falls out.
