Nesting box

I wouldn't think that it would be sturdy enough. If you have large fowl, they will probably break through one of the sides when they are scratching around preparing their nest.

I have 1 leghorn hen which is 16 weeks and 1 day. I also have silkies hen/roo i dunno yet because they are also 16 weeks. But will shavings work?

Think something more sturdy than a cardboard box.
You can use a reclaimed drawer as suggested, or a milk crate on it's side. Even 5-gallon buckets, cut in half will work.

If you are handy, you can build your own. I'll recycle pallets and/or scrap wood to practice my wood working joinery skills.

Grats pink!
I am also waiting for my white leghorn to lay. Do u mind posting your white leghorn pic i want to see if mine is like yours. My white leghorn is 16 weeks.

How often do i have to change my shaving?

I am awaiting my eggs also, I only have one so far...I use shavings...I would think when it gets soiled, just make sure it is several inches thick, they like to dig and scratch around to make a little nest to sit in
