Hi, I'm Rae and I'm new to Backyard Chicken... Somewhere in all my researches I thought I saw a contraption that you put under the laying box so the egg rolls down and away from the hen... but I sure can't find it again.... Can someone, if they know what I'm talking about, please tell me where to find them? I have had chickens before but this is the first time since we live up here in Montana.... And I can't wait to start getting fresh Eggs again!!!

Hi :welcome Rae

Glad you could join the flock! I have heard of the roll away nest box too but I've never tried it. I would suggest you ask in the coop design section of the forum for help on this. Here is the link > https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/9/coop-amp-run-design-construction-amp-maintenance
I'm sure there will be other members there who will be able to help you on this.

Wishing you the very best of luck. Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow

Out to pasture
Or put "rollaway nest box," in the search box above - it should pop up. I'm pretty certain one person even outlined the steps to making one.
