nesting boxes or roost?

Which one do you guys recomend to do for chicks. let them sleep in the nesting boxes, or use a roost? and when i say which one, i mean which one should they have for them forever? i was just wondering, which one to have my chicks get use to.

You don't want them sleeping in the nest boxes, or you will forever be cleaning them out...
Teach them to roost on 2x4s...
