There was a lot of quacking and complaining going on last night. They were really upset about it. I figure they will be fine after a couple of hours of staring at it. Plus there is a baby night light in the duck house. I've read that it is good to have one box for every two girls. So that was my math, we will see if it pays off. They are not laying yet, but boy did they all try to sleep in the single nest I had set. BTW it was very easy to build. All I needed was a zigzag saw to cut the wood and a drill to drill the countersink holes. I even curved the corners so they don't get hurt when they freak over something. I think I spend about 20 dollars on material for it, including the pans. The large wooden frame does not have a floor, just the kiddie litter pans in it. That way I can hose it off, if it gets nasty. So the verdict is in. While they are not yet laying, they surely used all of them to sleep in. So that is good. Lets hope they will use them for laying eggs down the road. All boxes do have training eggs in them, so there is a hint for the girls.
