Hi I'm new to this site as well as new to hatching eggs. One of our hens has hatched 3 chicks, they are 2 days old and not sure what I need to do for them. I have given them a little bit of water and starter feed. The hen and chicks are in one of our nesting boxes, the space she has is approx. 12"X15" and is about 2.5ft in the air. Is this OK? would anyone recommend something better?
Thanks, Proud Gramma.

At this point they are ready to be moved to a ground pen - preferably one with some privacy until the chicks become more mobile.

They need water and feed. But they shouldn't have access to layer feed.
After 2 days, she's probably about ready to abandon the unhatched eggs.

Mama hen, will also want to take them outside and show them how to be a chicken, what to eat, what to drink, where to find bugs etc. Maybe you can just use a wire divider to separate her and chicks from others in the flock. Just be sure the openings in the wire aren't big enough for the chicks to escape through. Others in the flock may attack them.
