Roll away nesting boxes VS traditional.
I am redoing the inside of my coop and I am trying to decide if I should go back with traditional nesting boxes or if I should do the roll away ones. I do occasionally have trouble with egg eaters.
Thanks!

Habitual egg eaters?? ...or just an occasional weak shelled egg that's easily broken and thus, IMO, fair game for eating??
Good roll away nests can take up some extra space, so keep that in mind.
Will you build or buy the nests?

I will probably build the nesting boxes. But would be open to good ones to purchase also.
And she has been eating the eggs for quite some time. She lays her egg and promptly eats it!
Thanks!

I like my Roll Out Nest Box Mk3. I like that it does not have any beding material only a carpet runner. The false floor pulls out for easy cleaning.

Hind sight being 20-20 I would have made the egg compartment about 4" deeper. Some of mine have learned to stick their head under the divider and roll their egg back. But after a while they just let it roll out.

That is one nice nesting box! I just installed my DIY roll-out box last night, but it is quite primitive compared to yours. I did see a hen in one of the boxes this morning, and an egg in the collection area under one of the other boxes, so I guess it works. As you can see, I tested with a golf ball.
