NESTING BOXES!

We have a big clay pot outside of the area wher they usually lay. We call it the waiting/emergency box. When the other nestig boxes are full and one of the girls needs to lay she gets in there and waits... If she's in a hurry she just lays it there.

So, pots & pans work well! Galvanized tubs and old milk crates are both great if you are not wanting to build.

I did a google search to fine using an old kitchen cabinet for a chicken nesting box & it brought this page up. I'm glad to see this as I forgot we had a cabinet that wasn't in use. It measures 20.75X30X12 & I'm planning on putting one shelf in the middle, the other will be cut to make the front lip & perch. It will be screwed to the wall for stability.
