how many nest boxes per chickens need to be in coop for maximum egg production???

I don't believe that the amount of nesting boxes will have any effect on the production of eggs. When I had three chickens, I had 2 boxes and they all used the same one, even at the same time sometimes. I would make sure they have enough to be comfortable but they take turns and sometimes do couples laying

For larger quantities of chickens, usually the number is 4 hens per box. I find that even 20 chickens, I find them in the same two boxes, depending on who lays the first egg, the rest follow suit and lay in the box with the egg already in it. So about 4 hens per box. Put golf balls in them to encourage laying in the boxes and not in hiding places.
