hi im hatching 5 eggs of white quail. how long do they take to reach breeding condition and what type of nesting box or ground do they need?

Cots mature at about 6 weeks and start laying and breeding.. as for nest boxes dont waste your time as they will hardly ever use them. they lay whenever and wherever they happen to be when its time which is usually on the cage wire or on the ground if kept that way..hope this helps

Hi Syedab, If your "white quail" are coturnix, they will take 17-18 days. Mine always went in 17 for the most part. They will thrive in a rabbit hutch type pen or ground pen type set up either. I always found it easier to maintain a sanitary pen with a rabbit hutch type set up... As to nest box, coturnix rarely go broody and will drop their egg while standing at a feeder and never act like they noticed it happened. They will love a sand box and if you give them one, they will be happier and most eggs will be laid there. A normal healthy coturnix hen will usually start to lay by 8 weeks old, some earlier.... Good luck, Bill
